Hi,

On my 2.1 L engine, the black plug (see picture) holds no more in place. What's behind this plug...is it mandatory ? :-s

Thank you

Richard

I got a new one here. I would not leave it open.

On an automatic transmission unit, that hole covered by the plug gives access to the bolts (3) which hold the torque convertor to the flex plate.

On a standard shift unit, it serves no purpose.
Many units are missing the plug and while it is possible for something to fall in the hole, it is probably quite rare.

If you have a plug, put it in.
If no plug, motor along, no serious worries.

I found a rubber plug (shaped like a big cork) at Ace Hardware that worked.
