I got the railbug with the conversion already done. I think the clutch may be slipping and needs to be replaced. I think they used the Esslinger? kit I would assume since the transaxle is VW it would use a VW Clutch kit. Just want to make sure I order the correct parts. Its supposed to be a 67 bug and I know there are 2 different styles of pressure plates for the 200mm clutch. Without having it apart is there any way to tell which version is in the trans? Thanks for the information in advance. |

Take it apart and get the right parts the first time. You know what happens when you assume. |

Most VW pressure plates come with the earlier style ( I think 1970 and earlier), centering ring, but its removable to convert to the later style. So if you get that kind of pressure plate, it should work for either style. A 1967 bug would have been swing axle, so presumably, the earlier style throwout bearing. But if its been converted to IRS, then who knows.

And I agree with cbeck, take it apart so you know exactly what you need. |
