I got my tag renewal notice for my street legal trail rail. I started doing it online and then noticed something. They have the make listed as "Homemade trailer" with the model unknown! My title and last years registration from the DMV says it's make is "Spcon" with the model being listed as "Recon". I guess I need to call them!

Just be sure your safety chains are connected properly....

DMV has to be the hardest people to deal with.... And it takes time for them to get it right.... I thing they purposely hire dumb people and have poorest computers systems in the world....

Here in Arizona, they have prison inmates doing the phone work for all of the low level stuff. Info and such. About fifteen years ago, I had a major problem with them and swore that my ex-wife was working there! I ended up climbing over the divider barricade and going upstairs to talk to a supervisor. It was a "No public allowed" area so somebody called their security guard to stop me. That was funny because I had taken time off work to take care of the problem and was in full Sheriff's Department uniform with my gun and badge on. The security guy took one look and left the area!

"SPCON" = "Special Construction" which translates to one off or at least not made by mass manufacture like Ford, Chevy, VW, etc.

If the DMV calls it a trailer, maybe whoever titled it was intending to use it as a Tow'd for pulling behind an RV and the DMV fool mis-understood.

But then, if a government agency says it's so, then it MUST BE SO! And who are you or me or any police officer who pulls you over to argue with what the almighty DMV said?

Arizona's DMV site is all messed up. When they updated it they screwed everything up, my brother told me when he pulls up people's info on his police computer the info doesnt make sense.

You can try calling them but good luck with that, you might have to make an appt to go in and see them.

Yeah SPCON means Special Construction. The model is listed as RECON which means Reconstructed but I think it's cool because I built it all Woodland camouflaged. "Beware! It's Recon"!

As far as titling it: I did that. I built it from a partially assembled frame and finished it off. I took it in for the complete DMV Class Three inspection and got it titled as street legal. Somebody there screwed it all up. I wonder if my ex wife really does work there??

I've been fighting ADOT over the same thing. Apparently they changed the computer system and it's screwed up. Plus thanks to the virus you can't even get help. Spent hours on the phone trying, then emailed them. Their reply was to call the same number I couldn't get anywhere with before.

Al >Did Sycamore Canyon yesterday, alone. Sore as hell today. Saw two dirt bikes and a Toyota pickup. Not many people out...
