Hi, all!

Has abybody upgraded their suspension on T2 to the bolt-on type, such as Red9, but in the US? If so, where did you find it?
https://www.red9design.co.uk/type2.htm

Thanks in advance.

Friend of my has this front axle under his 1970 bus.
Build quality is not that great, fitting issue’s and on the highest setting the bus sits lower the stock.
Steering is very direct, but suspension wise pretty harsh.
Looking back he would’t buy it again!

That is interesting. This might just be the first negative feedback which I have found on their suspensions.... :?

Ok let me put it this way, you pay a shitload of money for a formule 1 like suspension (a good OG axle with good balljoints and a thight steering box will do the job also) and someone is asking how is it? You won’t get a honnest answer of course you will hear this axle is the buisiness, it’s marvoulos, can’t get any better bla bla...
Overhere in europe you see them come up for sale second hand regulary!
The build quality is pretty bad and the solution with all the washers beteeen the A-arm is a Joke!
My friend lost a wheel because a ball joint came out of the socket!!!
A original front axle is strong enough to master the deepest puttholes on any speed but with this axle mmmm... it’s Russian roulette!
Sorry if this is not what you expected another mate who is an mechanical engineer said it nicely, it’s nice on another bus but this will never get under my bus as it is to weak constructed for too much money.
Steering is nice and playfree though!

I have the suspension and front brake kit on my '70 double cab. The folks at Red9 were a pleasure to deal with - and contrary to what has been said on here, the build quality seems solid. Piet, the owner was honest and straightforward and replied to my numerous questions quickly.

Yes it was expensive. Yes, it took a long time to get here to the states (though Piet was very transparent on that - and it was actually delivered in less time than originally quoted). But it transformed the steering on my truck. The only thing I wish it had was provision to use a front sway bar. I'm working on my own solution to remedy that part.

I have about 1500 miles on the suspension and brake so far.

I'm happy to take pics or share any more experience with it if you have questions.

There is a German manufactor that has a red9 look a like and that looks a whole lot better/stronger even VW nutzfarzeuge restoration centre uses these, i’m breaking my mind what the name was! as soon as it comes to mind i’ll post it here!

So it seems they only make the front suspensions for the Bay Windows. Was looking to upgrade both front and rear.
