View original topic: Another tower to air box question

I'm gonna just throw it out to everyone- my hose seems a little short, about an inch.

The one from the breather tower to the air box as well. Talking about the one is this diagram #16.

The hose.

In the diagram this hose appears to connect to the fitting with the plug. On my truck it is opposite and always has been.

Which is correct? Should the hose be attached to the fitting with the plug, or the other? If mine is backwards I believe it might work out. Just worried about messing something up if I swap them around, but pretty sure it would not.

Hello!

the heating element should be connected to the breather tower, that's why.

Makes sense, but with all of the other oddities I wanted to make sure, thanks for setting me straight.

Ugh. Now it will run for 2 seconds and die. All I did was take the heater box off to clean everything!

Will now do it over again to see what I messed up. Sometimes it seems better just not to touch any of it. Seems like everytime I attend to one thing another 2 or 3 crop up.

Did you plug your AFM back in?

I did. I had taken the screws off the plug on the AFM to inspect the wiring. I might have disconnected something inadvertently.

Is that black cover on top of the AFM engineered to come off? I pried a bit but nothing. Didn't want to break it.

Heck.

If the hose is too short replace it with a new one. The old hoses will tend to collapse in on themselves.

I used 7/8" I.D. Gates coolant hose and bought 1 foot of it and cut down to size.

Odd that no one has ever tried to get the AFM apart. Perhaps it's meant to just never have anything ever done to it? I will try ans get it back together and see what happens.

That plastic cover on the AFM can be pried off, carefully. There are threads here pertaining to that.

Many have pulled that black cover off exposing the wiper board and arm.

Owners have cleaned these, adjusted these and broken these.

You won't be the first in there and certainly not the last either.

The cover is glued, often with silicone. Pry slowly, letting the tension break loose the silicone.
