That is a beautiful drive through the redwoods.

30mpg?!? I can barely get 20mpg with my '02 Weekender, which seems to be average based on google.

I gotta get me that diesel manual conversion. Just a small weekend tinkering project right??

Some photos of the van from part 1 of our western US trip (we have been on the road for about six weeks). Many more amazing photos (just not of the van). I did have a scary moment after week 2 ... the van's transmission wouldn't engage at all ... no gears. Thankfully it was just a line to my new external cooler that had come loose (and blew out too much fluid). A full refill of the fluid and I was back in business).

The terrible job I did trying to paint the bike rack and awning casing are apparent ... I used self-etching primer and SEM paints, cleaned the aluminum properly, etc. ... it just eventually all flaked off ... about $200 wasted. Oh well, most projects have not turned out that way.

First LP tank fill since in the 18 months I've owned the van ... thankfully they had the right attachment

After replacing the CV transaxle, I got around to the end of season prep. The big change compared to last year's year's storage process was adding some mouse-proofing to the under bumper vents. Hopefully this, in combination with the other standard items (capping the water drain, dryer sheets up the wazoo, removing anything remotely edible, etc.), will help keep the van poop-free come spring.

Finally installed a new burner orifice into our Norcold 3-way fridge. Happy to report that it works like a charm now on propane, which feels both amazing and a bit ironic given that our 3 month trip is coming to a close. Still, better late than never. Love to see that green light!

I followed all the directions that I found on posts here on TheSamba, so thanks to the fourum members who have come before me. I didn't really snap too many photos (the one I took of it out was to send to my partner during the project).

Fridge out ... wasn't as hard as I had thought it would be (but yea, that first inch is not easy, especially going back in).

And green lit
