Hello! We have a 1972 Super - it's been in the family for a while. It sat for 4 years before we got it on the road. Once we started it, the car ran fine and we drove around town for about a month. Then, two days ago - the car just went sputter - putt - putt and died. The car then would not restart. Had it towed to the auto-electric shop where he filed the points in the distributor cap and it started fine again, but just for an hour before it went sputter - putt - putt again and finally died.
Now it won't start. It turns over strong and it has gas - but no ignition. Does anyone have thoughts on the matter?
Not sure where to begin - I could try changing the plug wire and distributor cap. Thanks! |

Did he grease the distributor cam and points rubbing block when he did this?? If not, it will happen again - and maybe an hour later !!! |
