View original topic: Transmission shifts well accelerating, clunk when foot is lifted

New to me 2003 MV. 102K, Transmission seems to shift well under light, medium and even moderately heavy throttle. However, when accelerating, if I lift my foot a bit, I get an upshift (expected) and a clunk. Wondering if the clunk is early signs of death of transmission or possibly (hopefully) a bad motor mount or normal for these?

Thoughts?

Do a series of fluid changes , three total, replacing about 3-4 liters of ATF each time. Then report back when the clunk is gone

:D

You want to drive for a few miles between changes.

My guess is lower transmission (pendulum) mount when the torque is changing.
