Question for the hive.
I need to replace one of the center torsion bar holders because I’m a dumb%$# and stripped the threads on it. I’m thinking about buying one of the cheap EMPI Avis style kits, just for that part.
Now when I look at the kits, the one for ball joint front ends uses a grub screw to hold the torsion bars, and a long one for adjusting. The link pin kit only uses the one long screw. Although I have a ball joint front end, I think I need the link pin kit because I already welded in the adjusters where I want them.
Any thoughts about this?

Why not drill and tap one size larger? |

I thought about that, but the slot would have to be widened also. Doing that would reduce the amount of "teeth" contact to keep the torsions from moving.
I could possibly drill it out and tap it larger, then use a screw in insert or heli-coil. |

Can it be drilled and tapped the correct size on the exact opposite side, then put in backwards? |

Or, could you weld up the existing hole and redrill it?
I don't like the sound of a helicoil in this application. |

Cut the adjusters out & replace with new ones. Use adjusters for a balljoint beam as the profile of the spring packs are different from those in a kingpin beam.
I also suggest using Sway-a-way style adjusters, they are infinitely adjustable & far easier to adjust if there is any preload on the spring packs. |
