Hi again everyone, having a hard time figuring out what it says on the side of my September ‘55 Euro bus. Any ideas?

It looks like the second word is “Illustrierte” translating to magazine in German. Big letters look like Stonn and that’s all I can make out

Does anyone know of any existing photos of Stern Magazine buses that they used?! Would be AMAZING to find an original photo of this bus (or other “Stern” buses). I’m going to be in touch with Stern Magazine and see if they might have some original photos and possibly even interest in purchasing the bus. I’ve been hunting for a split window for years (have had 8 bay windows but this is my first split window) and not sure I’m the right home for a bus with this much historical significance. The history of Henri Nannen (German Journalist) who started Stern magazine in 1948 is quite interesting! If you’re bored read up on him! Thanks in advance! 🚎

Is it possible that “Stern” had the hole put in the roof for filming and taking pictures while driving/parked? They are known for their pictures/videos and being a pictorial publication. There is a cover for the hole in the bus and when I got it the cover was on it with a tire on top holding it down

How about some pictures of the whole bus?

I doubt they would have filmed at the time. They were print media only. They really had no way to publish any film material. There were only one, two and then three TV stations nation wide for a long time. And all were state run.

Cool find, historical too! I hope you replicate the logos when done. Wild dash "Oh shit!" handle too! Tell all of us the story of the find, the purchase and the extraction please...

Bill
