First off, sorry for the New Guy Questions!
Just bought a GT-12 Avenger(I think) kit car.
Found chassis number and 1st 3 numbers are 119.
I think it is a 1969 beetle. Can anyone verify that ?
Transmission is still in car, found the stamp AH1543737.
Can anyone help on those numbers. Would like to know what it is, year, and what engine will adapt.
I have an engine that came with it separately. Where would I look to find #’s and what would they mean?
I probably will have a lot of other questions but this would help for know.
Thank you in advance!!!

Welcome to The Samba.

Yes 119 indicates it is a '69 chassis. Many states require a kit car to be registered as special construction so a title may have a different year on it.

AH1543737 would be a IRS transaxle from 69-72 It originally came with a 4.12 R&P gear with 3.80/2.06/1.26/.89 1-4 gears. Because it is 50 years old if it has ever been rebuilt then those gear ratio's could have been changed. You need to look at the throw-out bearing to determine which clutch & pressure plate you need to use. 69-70 used early T/O & P/P and 71-72 used a late T/O & P/P. This thread will help you determine what you need https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=148307

All year 1200, 1300, 1500, and 1600 Bug engines used the same mounting holes and will bolt up to the transaxle.

You can also use a later Type 4 engine as used in a Porsche 914 (1.7, 1.8, 2.0L) or from a VW 411/412 and a Type 2 (VW Bus) - years approximately 1970-1976 (bus in 1972 up and 411 from 1969). The are a more modern air cooled engine with more initial power.

A 1.8-25L Subaru water cooled engine can also be used - 170-230 hp.

Thank you all for your help. I will try to figure out how to post some pics. Already have body off and floor pans out. Fun build so far!

Best of luck. I am hesitant to admit that my Avenger was the kit build that made me swear off building any more kits. It might have been that I went a little overboard with flush Corvette door handles, power windows, custom power front and rear hatches, Corvette rear lights, etc.

It was a nightmare!

But have fun! :D
