Thanks Skills! You kid but I was actually very close to trying to duplicate the old VW powered “water bug” boat and using a Vanagon engine.

The boat is working well. I rigged up a boat trailer winch to pull the boat right into the back of the van.

15.5mph, plenty fast for this little boat.

I managed to get a last minute camping/fishing trip in last week with a couple of my co-workers at Maligne Lake. The fishing and weather was better than I was expecting!

My boat is on group 29 RV batteries, And they are heavy. I have been waiting for these lighter & more powerful batteries to come along for a reasonable price.

What a terrific project boat! And it fits in the van! I have always wanted to build a small wooden boat & I am really jealous. I am so impressed I’m not gonna pollute this thread with pictures of my old beater electric boat. I’ll make an OT of my own while I wait for fishing season.
