View original topic: Headlight wiring issue

91 2WD Westy with SA round headlights and a goWesty high power headlight relay setup.
I measured voltage of 11.5 volts on the white headlight wire at the headlight socket.
I checked the ground port on the socket to the body and had continuity.
Then I found continuity from the white (high beam) wire to the body.
I’m confused.
No continuity between yellow (low beam) wire and body.
Any ideas?

What problem are you trying to solve?

Are you measuring for continuity with all headlight connectors unplugged?

The blue dash highbeam bulb is just a normal type bulb and it provides a path to ground so that is likely what you are seeing on the high beam wire.

Thanks for the reply.
I was surprised to see the hi-beam wire going to ground.
I hadn't thought about the blue indicator as a grounding source.
I was also wondering about why I had 11.5 volts at the headlight socket unplugged when the battery was reading 13.7v.
but everything lights up and seems to work just fine.
I installed JW Speaker 5-3/4" inboard and Peterson 7" outerboard.

With your headlights on what is the voltage at the #30 connections (one end of fuses 7, 8, & 9) to the fuse box?
