I'm seeing different pics on the way to insert the filler into the lower rocker chrome trim for my 67' deluxe.
Does the filler stop and leave the "triangle" shape exposed to see the paint (pic1); does it go all the way (pic2); or does it matter?
Thank you

I would go all the way, like on the bumper trim-you shape and polish w fine sand paper. I even buffed mine w electric buffer to remove scuffs-looks great |

Installed. I "dry-fit" both and I liked what Nutsforbuses suggested.

Looks good!
#2 for sure.
If I remember correctly original inserts are sort of sliced in a crude manner to fit the angle of the rocker trim. |

I'd be curious too Everett what the og's did look like. I used the black roll from Wolfsburg West and took scissors to slightly angle cut the ends. As the saying goes, it worked swimmingly well :-) |

Lots of good stuff already here- I'll add:
When you've seen the filler cut back to reveal aluminum void- chances are it has shrunk back over time. When installing, stuff in an extra 1/2: for every 1 foot of material to allow for future shrinkage.
Where the molding comes to the point on the rocker spears- you can nip the corners off to make sure the filler you stuff in makes it all the way to the tips. |
