After years of searching I finally found a source for the end caps for my old 1987 Dometic awning.
After emails with customer service at Dometic I learned that Dometic no longer carries them. But they were able to give me the part numbers!
Here is a pic of my awning deployed.
The model number info on the inside of the case.
The broken end caps held together with velcro straps.
And here is the email from Dometic.

Good morning. I have added below the part numbers. We no longer have them. I would suggest looking around online for those parts.

Buy spares!
I had a broken piece on my Fiamma. I was able to get parts, but they do change over the years, Since it was a leg fold-out piece and essential to awning use, I bought a replacement and spare for the left and right.
Bought
spare end caps as well, as they have to be removed to replace these parts and it seems like breaking one would be well within my skill set. |

Yours is the Catalina model, which replaced the Dometic/A&E Trans-Awn 2000, which uses completely different end caps. I amended the topic title to reflect this.
If anyone is looking for Trans-Awn parts, head to the Trans-Awn topic for all the info: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=443718 . |

I would make a mold of them using fiberglass so you can have the possibility of re-making one in the future. |

Looking for some end caps if anyone has a source. I checked the intertubes pretty hard for all part numbers mentioned and didn't find much. |

Working on remodeling them to print in ABS. I'll let you know how it goes.

I'm in. I've been looking for these unsuccessfully for awhile now. https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?p=9057349#9057349
The new ones I ordered never arrived: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?p=9692145&highlight=catalina#9692145
I assume you have a set to model/measure from. If not, let me know if you need any measurements, though mine are in poor shape.
Note the interior slot that secures the pole ends when stowed.
Upgrade suggestions:
- Strengthen the material where any mounting screws go.
- Any chance of making the flat surface a bit convex, rather than concave as shown, to appear more aerodynamic and reduce wind noise?
There's probably lots of other van/rv/4x4/camping forums that will be interested in these. |
