I had the front transmission mount, polyurethane, disintegrate. Most all of the tutorials on changing it wanted you to remove the engine first. Mine has dual carbs, and you have to pull the manifolds prior to removing the engine.
I removed the rear engine tin, jacked up the car and put it in neutral. I put a jack under the engine to help support it. I then loosened the two bolts that hold the rear of the tranmission to the car about 1/2 inch. I took a crow bar pushing the whole assembly rear ward. I was able to remove the the old mount and install a new polyurethane mount. I don't think you could use this method to install an original steel mount. |
