  View original topic: using 70s chassis parts on swing axle

Good evening,
I am putting together a sandrail that is set up for swing axle. There are several parts missing from this sandrail (brakes, leaves for ibeam, steering box, shifter rod). I have a few 1970s chassis laying around that has all of the chassis parts already. Would this work? I compared my ibeam that is an earlier version (1960ish) and its different than my 70s ibeams. Could I take the completed ibeam off this chassis and bolt it up to this sandrail? Also will my rear brakes on the 70s chassis work on swing axle? Any imput would be much appreciated. Thanks!

The only thing I can say for sure is that the torsion tubes are farther apart on ball joint front beams than they are on link and king pin beams. There are lots of more knowledgeable people regarding your issues on Samba's off road forum, here:
