one of the spring loaded contacts in the rear view mirror is stuck down into the mirror housing. trying to figure out how to take it apart to free up the contact. there is a small pin hole in the back that i tried to put a paperclip in thinking it would release the top part of the mirror housing to get to the contacts. the hole does nothing. sure would like to take it apart and fix the stuck contact button to get my dome light working again.

When I recently did mine, the access to the bulb/switch area was by popping off the cover - there is a small slit big enough for a small flathead screwdriver to go in and that should pop off the cover. It’s directly over the switch:

The rest of the assembly, I believe, just comes off by the screws in the white plastic piece.

This is on a ‘78 convertible - not sure if the design might be slightly different on yours.

thanks so much for the reply. since i posted my question i saw a youtube video how to separate the mirror from the mount. since i already had the mirror off the car i had to clamp it in my vise and pull like a son of a gun to get it apart. Just as hard to snap it back in. Thanks again
