In my health care circles this morning , the Omicron variant R nought is being estimated as similar to measles,Ro = 18

It really doesn’t matter if it’s anything bigger than 5 , what this means is if you aren’t in a cave , you will get exposed.

If you aren’t vaccinated and boosted , it’s time.

First US death from Omicron variant confirmed yesterday, 3 weeks after first cases confirmed in the US. Too early to know how deadly Omicron is, but the infection rate is extremely high. Preliminary study says though it may not be quite as deadly as Delta, it certainly is a lot more deadly than the original covid variant.

If it has been more that 6 months since your last covid vaccine, you should probably get boosted. I got my booster last week.

Do we really need to continue discussing covid? If you are scared of it, stay home in isolation until covid is gone or the earth is consumed by the sun, whichever happens first (my money is on the sun). Most of us are ready to move on with our lives. I believe it's safe to say those of you who want the vaccine have already gotten it, and the rest of us who have chosen not to get it aren't going to change our minds just because of yet another "new" variant.

How effective is the vaccine anyway? The latest "high profile" person is Jim Cramer on MSNBC, who has been TRIPLE vaccinated and STILL got covid! How can you keep claiming the vaccine is effective? "You won't be hospitalized!" I hear you saying. Really? I had covid last March and survived just fine without any vaccines - and I have yet to catch the delta, omnicron, cybertron, or any other pending or not-yet-invented variants. I'm a plumber, who is around strangers all day, everyday, in and out of houses and restaurants, so the argument could be made I'm at a high risk of catching it. And no, I don't wear masks anymore either. Hardly anyone around here does these days. It may shock you, but I'm still alive.

Maybe one day they will find the magic number of covid vaccine shots that will grant us all superhuman strength and the ability to fly and shoot lasers from our eyes. But until then, let's keep discussions here to things about the cars and hobbies we love - not more fear mongering. Fox, CNN, etc has that covered pretty well enough already.

I agree....if you don't want to use smart precautions (including vaccination and boosting) against covid I fully support you as long as you sign a DNR so you don't overwhelm our already strained medical system.

People's surgeries are being put off and wellness screenings too due to overloaded and overstressed medical resources. This impacts everyone. If you want to take on covid without being vaccinated then have the strength to die with dignity at home surrounded by your family. Sorry if thats too blunt but its come to that point.

On a side not I heard the one omicron death was someone who had already contracted covid and had recovered.
