I did time by Tencent method, but that's for 35 degrees. Did anyone come up with a measurement for 40 degrees. I'm sure he said 2" from pulley mark for 35 degrees.

So I figured out about 1/4 inch more for 40 degrees.

With the 1.9L Digijet you want to set your timing at 28° BTDC @ 3800+ rpms, hoses off and plugged, just like you would with an old aircooled. This takes into account that your vacuum retard and advance are not working to factory specs any more. The Digital Idle Stabilizer needs to be bypassed as well when setting the timing.

From memory the mark should be something like 1 5/8" from the "u" mark on the pulley, but you might want to do your own calculations.
