you know how to tell the difference between silicon implants, and saline implants ?
if you put your ear to them, and can hear the ocean, they're saline.
come to think about it, a thread about boobs, would be a lot better than a thread about electric vehicles.

well yeah, boobs are better as electric cars are bad.
As for implanting silicon, what energy, dose and species one must ask?
Ion implant is a technique to do selective doping into the silicon. As, P, B, etc.. atoms are ion implanted at some pretty high energy into the silicon, this makes doped regions that can be either N or P type so in as to create diodes or transistor junctions. The ion implant tools are pretty neat. They have basically a mass spectrometer to assure only the desired ionized atoms get implanted this remove any contaminating atoms from the beam (the dopants are usually supplied as a hydride gas, PH3 for instance,) but when ionized the H atoms are stripped off the P atom, we only want P implanted for instance!!!
The atoms are accelerated in a beam at many kVolt energies into the silicon target wafer that beam is rastered across the wafer until the correct dose is achieved. this is done at some pretty good vacuum, using turbo pumps usually for high vacuum, you want to get all the air out of the chamber. after implanting we then anneal the wafers at high temperature to drive in the implanted atoms, and anneal out crystal damage done my the implant on the lattice. The ion implant can be masked with layers of patterned oxides, nitrides on the wafer that is later stripped off.
these machines are pretty cool
here is some pictures...

my local god botherers have finally learned that my door is not worth their while knocking on.
my mother said it took them almost 10 years before they were willing to try her place, after l left.
there's not much in life that gets me an angry as god botherers do.
l don't care what brand, l despise them all equally.

Back on track
https://www.msn.com/en-us/autos/news/audi-unveils-...ngNewsSerp
Note that the writer states...
"But it's important to note that 16.5 billion tons of fossil fuels are dug out of the Earth every year. For comparison, the clean energy transition will require just 30 million tons of minerals per year."
Note that only 30 million tones of mineral will be required for a green transition per year. but remember that pure minerals are rarely ever found. you need to dig up a lot more ore than you get the mineral from that ore. so the above article is very deceptive, 16.5 billion "dug up" verses only 30 million!!!
Per this..
https://www.ncesc.com/geographic-pedia/how-much-earth-is-moved-to-make-a-tesla-battery/
one car needs 30 tons of ore just for the Colbalt, Nickle and Copper required, NOT counting the Lithium brine needed.
So that 30 million tones of mineral is misleading in the first story.
30 million tones of ore is only enough ore for one million electric cars, (not counting the Lithium)
One million electric cars will hardly make a dent in the market, as their is nearly 275 million car in the USA.
green washing deceptive writing to be sure.
Furthermore that 16.5 billion tons of fossils fuels is a total of coal, oil and gas. But not all of that is used for fuel, some of it is used for the chemical industry, to make plastics, fertilizers, paints, roads, roofing shingles, etc... and some of that is indeed used for the manufacture or use of electric cars, again more green washing of the truth
electric cars are not all that green afterall
do to the massive amount of ores required, an electric car has a much larger CO2 manufacturing foot print than normal cars too.
electric cars are not the solution for manmade global warming, even if there were such a thing, and that assumes that global warming is a bad thing too, it may not be so bad.
craziness. |

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know why posts that refer to the ice age are being deleted?
I had one of my posts get deleted for this reason, as well. |

It may have melted away.
Of course if it is CO2 ice, it may have sublimed away.
Or perhaps someone higher up put a freeze on discussing that subject.
Of course when I was but a lad, I first though a sublime was a deep sea citrus fruit. |

I went out in our -30*C weather yesterday to start the car, threw the key fob on the seat next to me and cleared the snow off before starting the car. The dash said "No key" when I got back in... the battery died in the key fob that quick!
Then when I got out on the road I checked my phone... it was dead too and I just took it off the charger before I left!
Go ahead and try to convince me that I NEED an E car here in the winter in Canada! |

I did not consider that. I have now concluded I need to do everything possible to stop global warming. I am crushing my cars, going vegan, off the grid and protesting oil. We must keep the Earth cool for the sake of the boobs!!!!! Stop global warming NOW!!!!!! |

I saw my first one in the flesh yesterday at a VW dealership.
My reaction? Hot dog! That would be the perfect golf cart-limo for a group (company or family reunion game) round of golf! Can you just picture it out there on the green surrounded by a bunch of happy golfers? How many does it seat? Six, eight? Plus golf bags?
