I seen a Ghia in the Japanese Let's Play VW magazine that has the 4-lug Mahles, but his was painted with the same color as the KG (dark brown) and polished the ribs and lip.

Also a friend has a set of Mahles on his '67 Ghia coupe, unpainted mag look.

Although this pic may not be a Ghia, but it's a good friend Robert Knerr with his '67 Squareback that has polished Mahles:

BTW my Mahles are pretty cool - powder pinked with polished rims & spokes.

You don't actually upload pictures to TheSamba, you only link to them. I use a freeware program called smartFTP to upload them to my ISP web space, then I just drop links in my posts.

You do upload them if you use the Gallery, for which exists this handy-dandy how-to for.

OK here is my ride. I bought the wheels with polished rims and spokes and NOS caps. Then had the old paint stripped, powder pinked in the nonpolished area and the back repainted. All wheels have 2x5mm spacers which were needed at the front to clear the calipers and at the back to have the tyre just clear of the arch. I have Conti CV90's 195x65 all round. Clearance at the front arch is fine with no mods. The bolts were a pain to find, nothing repro seated properly or was long enough. I then got on touch with Mittel Motor in Germany who stock originals and repros (at a far lesser cost). The repros they stock are identical to the origianls apart from the head it's flat and not raised.

Itchy, nice looking Ghia, The interior looks like you did a lot of work on it..

@ 72Coupe - I had it done by Bernard Newbury - can't recommend him enough. Back & front seats, doors and 1/4 panels all leather. Also had to source original horsehair padding, new frames and back seats (got from a '72 donor <2 miles away, just by chance). Seats and panels not era correct design but it's what I wanted. All cost a bit tho' :shock:

I am crazy for my MAHLE 4 lug rims that I will be putting on my vert but they were a labor of love (i.e., get rid of the anodizing, partial polish and then powder coat with sateen black and yes you have to wipe off the powdercoating by hand on the polished areas before you bake it).
