Finally got to see my kid in a platoon photo...doesn't even look like his "old" him (faded his platoon mates faces for privacy), he's definitely one of the tallest.

Son is looking very good amongst all the other sons out there. Pretty soon they will be able to put a round into a flea's ass at 200 meters...standing. :D
Just for kicks ..ask son how many clicks on the windage it takes on the 300m 500m. He may look at you funny -
I am so happy for you and your son -
Service and sacrifice - these are alive and well in the hearts of every patriot. God Bless - |

If he's anything like his great great grandfather, he'll do just fine

Looks like grandpa Farr had the makings of an F-Class rifleman. He would have given them a run for their money. The F-Class is the every rifleman's dream - you shot to 1000 yards w/ iron sights just using a sling in prone.
Camp Perry did give out only issue-ammo then in those days w/c made it more fun and realistic just like the rifle quals firing line today. But these days - people can use souped up ammo measured to the last grain and boat-tails w/ predictable ballistics. But wind-reading remains the skill every rifleman masters or care to.
My younger brother -whom i taught rifle shooting - made it thru marine bootcamp and then to marine sniper school right after. He is a fair rifleman and probably not as gifted as pappy Farr. But they ALL have my respects.
If he comes home w/ the cross-rifles = you know it. :D |

Ok since daughters are now on the table of discussion.
My youngest is in the USAF.
She has been in for 7+ years and has earned many recognitions from base commanders world wide.
Her latest achievement is leading a team of men in an International European Leadership Competition.
My daughters team took 1st place. She was the only female to participate in the competition.
I wish I could post a pic of her at the award presentation. But her MOS is top secret. She'd probably kill me if I tried.
Needless to say. The ear to ear smile on her face is priceless.
I love both of my daughters. |

Before he gets into too many gates, there are government mandated safties.
UL 325 2000, ul325 2016 and ul 325 2018.. The company I work for was involved in a suit when a child lost fingers in some cantilever slide gate rollers. |
