This is a ticklish subject I realize but I just got banned form a FB site for using an common expression in jest that none of us would think twice about using in real life. Yes you have to be careful in this day of limited freedom of speech but some of this gets a but ridiculous.

In my case I think it was an automatic algorithm looking for key words, I don't think anyone with an IQ above 20 could have read my post and taken it verbatim. The subject matter and tone of the conversation was trivial and my reply lighthearted and joking. Anyway, case closed, I am now the equivalent of a criminal on that site and as far as I can tell - banned for life.

Anyone else experiance this?

Not from facebook, but I bet there are bots doing most of the editing. You may have some appeal process if you look for it, and if you care.

I was banned from NextDoor when I posted a photo, which was allowed to stay on the ND page of a neighboring tract, allegedly showing white supremacist's hanging a banner over the freeway overpass.

I re-posted the photo, and asked "Can anyone verify as an eyewitness that this was actually a real photo, and not photoshopped?" It has been done there before.

I was banned for three weeks for asking the question. :roll:

At this point, my give a crap meter is registering pretty low. It was a site where locals shared scenery, local wildlife, bits of local lore and weather related things, nice pictures to look at and interesting things, nothing world shattering. I lived a perfectly normal life previously...

No it does not seem there is an appeal process. All good, just silly.

You might not be banned completely - FB jail tends to be about 3 weeks, and I have a friend who's constantly in it, so that's about his banishment time. The first time he disappeared he and I were joking to each other about secret government agencies and black Suburbans lurking (I was living in wheat country in Eastern Oregon, and he is in a neighboring town of about population 300), and one of us babelfished something in Latvian about "we are always watching" and *poof", he disappeared. Even joking between farmers will get you jailed for a while :roll: ...

I was banned from YewHew news about a year ago and I still don't know why. There is no explanation other than a generic "violation of the rules".

I'm Banned from FB too ,, :roll: they said someone hacked my account and I should send a Photo I.D. ,, NOT gonna Happen,,, it's F.B :roll: Fucking Snowflakes!!!

Since they banned you, you should ask for your money back.

When i got banned from the 356 Registry... I asked for a refund and got a check a week later.

It's only one site on FB that has banned me and I know exactly what I said. When I do a search for that site on FB it no longer comes up. It's just like it doesn't exist now but I know it does.

I will wait and see but I suspect it won't come back. And if it doesn't, no big loss.

i got tossed on FB for bullying. Just for calling a HS friend a "Silly goose". I fought it and won.

Administrators here typically just delete posts I make that they don't like. It's somewhat of a game.

I did join Facebook to get on a site for former employees of the company; I have been banned at least once, and a couple of times FB would simply not accept my post.

And FB software was not comfortable with the "Cusser" name.

Cusser I have seen some of your posts that were cleaned up. They were not nearly as offensive as many I see here.
I think it is close to impossible to be banned on The Samba. "Certain people" continually post simply horrid statements on this site and it just gets cleaned up. The worst offenders are heavy posters and the reality of keeping a website viable is that content is king.

I just got a 6 day FB ban for not being complimentary enough of Vladimir Putin. I'm appealing the ban but I know which rabbit hole in which that will end. The censors over there have become ridiculous.

Ok I will tell you what I posted just so you can get a chuckle too.

The subject was a photo of a species of animal that is on the protected list. The poster that I replied to was enquiring as to where exactly I found this critter so that he could see one. He had never seen one in the flesh. Well I was not about to make my property a public highway for curious gawkers so I used that age old spy movie quote "I could tell ya buddy but afterwards I would have to k1ll ya!"

Yup! I am guilty of uttering death threats on a public forum! :shock:
