Hi guys,
I am doing a Sa conversion on my 65 bus and made the axle tubes myself.
Now im in the proces of putting it all back together but i noticed that the inner spacer falls tot deep (i think) in the tube..
I can pull the axle itself a little bit and then the spacer will sit flush with the tube..
Am i doing something wrong or did i made the tubes to long?
I hope you guys van understand what im' saying here!
Thanks! |

Did you use short end castings? |

Yes i used the short end castings and made the axles the same way with the jig like the SA thread:
I use the long axle/long spline |

I measure the long housing with the bearing in, then I make the short end housing that length with also the bearing in, seems to me the problem you are having as the bearing seats differently in the long and short housing. Ian |

There's a difference of +- 4 mm so i think i have found the problem!
Gonna make a new inner spacer that's 4 mm wider from an old (wider) outer spacer with a lathe machine!
I also need spacers for early bug drums so need to trim the outer one 4mm down so the axle nut will fit!
Thanks guys! |
