I'm currently overhauling the A/C in my '90 Westfalia. I am having a local hose shop cut new lines and install the fittings. My problem is with the trinary pressure switch that is currently part of the system. The shop cannot source the fitting with the male threaded port that the switch currently threads onto.
I think the easiest solution (tell me if I'm wrong) is to put in a standard port and replace the switch. Do modern trinary switches thread onto a 134a service valve fitting? What are the pressure settings for the current switch, or does anyone know of a trinary switch available that can thread onto a standard valve fitting that will otherwise work the the Vanagon system?
Thanks. |

Yes!
Either cut off the VW fitting and solder it in or just put a “normal”
Fitting on and install a commonly available switch.
A new switch is what I did on my rebuild.
