The wife brought home an injured snapping turtle
Cracked shell
What can we do to help this poor fellow out?

How can you not see a foot long turtle and run it over?

Safety wire and 5-minute epoxy. We have adopted a couple of turtles and tortoises with previous repairs. They did fine and the shells eventually heal.
Be real careful with that snapper.

Fiberglass resin and cut the matting material to fit. (Dont put it all over, just the crack line, about 1 inch, on either side of crack. I have done several that I have been able to return to the wild.

Super glue was originally designed to be used as a liquid suture for the military. I have sealed up several deep wounds & even reattached a fingertip.

Super glue would now be my choice......followed up with resin and cloth fiberglass after the super glue had set. It has been MY experience that super glue is not or will not be enough. It will let go before the wound (shell) has healed......therefore the fiberglass (as quick as the Super Glue has set) and dont get the cheap stuff from Dollar Tree! Remember, a turtle does not know its shell has been damaged and will try to do the same things as it had done before. Attaching a fingertip or suturing, a human knows he is injured and will keep that joint or place immobilized. I do however like the Super Glue idea but only as a first step.

think that needs a vet...inside parts shouldn't be on the outside. :-&

JB weld with a touch of green pigment so the other turtles don’t make fun of her. Quick setting in case there are hares nearby

Waiting on the rehab center to call back.

Once fixed, an application of Turtle Wax would be appropriate.

People run them over on purpose, unfortunately. I had an insane school bus driver growing up in rural Missouri that would do that. They also ran over a giant snake once on purpose and it was halfway dead, then she stopped and had her son tie it to the rear view mirror outside the door to terrorize the kids getting off the bus.
