Among the 10 or so "independent" (that is, not connected with any particular club or organization represented in the parade) antique automobiles in this year's Branford, CT Memorial Day Parade were three air cooled VWs, including Alessandro's outstanding '65 Brazilian Bug, Diane's (moogie32) '63 Ghia, and my (Stock Steve) '70 Bug. Our six-year-old collie Finn also rode along with me in the parade.
Some of the antique cars mustered along Town Hall Drive at the edge of the Town Green, prior to the step off of the parade:
Moogie32's 1963 Karmann Ghia (and also our puppy):
Alessandro's '65 Bug:
My '70 Bug, staged, and then rolling at the start of the parade (the rolling "action" photo is by Parade Chairman Bill O'Brien):
Couple views from behind the wheel of the '70, early in the parade--you can see Alessandro's Bug a couple cars ahead of us (that's Chairman O'Brien snapping a picture of the Avanti in the first shot):
With my buddy Finn, rolling in the parade (you can see a tiny bit of moogie32 rolling behind us):
