How much back spacing would I need on a 15x5.5 wheel to run a 205/60/15 tire on the rear that's lowered without it rubbing.or can it be done? how low can it go?

Swingaxle or IRS?
A 5.5” wide rear wheel should have an offset around 40mm, give or take 5mm. This should not be a problem with a 205/60 tire on a lowered but not slammed swingaxle. I had 16”x8” Porsche 944 with 225/50 tires on the back of my lowered 67. Very little clearance in the inner fender area!
Here’s a thread that details wheels/tires on lowered pre-67 VWs.

73 irs, lowered a little with 205/60-15. I think these 5.5 chrome stock style have are 4” back space. I’ll probably have it up on a jack soon, so I can measure.
