I have a few collector cars besides my Beetle and last year my Citroen 2CV had its hood fly open and I had to get it from France. So, $4000 in damage. I have American Modern and they covered the full bill with an estimate from a body shop without an adjuster ever coming and looking at it. My agent is www.classicins.com
I've been pleased with this outfit. |

I've been with Hagerty for the last 15+ years. '69 Beetle (modified), $20k declared value, $377 per year. |

Hagerty will also insure newer "Collector" cars. I was surprised when they took our 2008 VW EOS on the same policy as our '66 Beetle. |

I also have Hagerty for my 1970 and 1971 VWs. |

I seem to remember that Hagerty required that all drivers in a household have a primary vehicle before they would insure a classic car. That would be a problem for me since my wife and I have only one and that gets used by both of us. |

A Hagerty agent once told me that you are required to get ice cream each and every time you drive an insured vehicle. |

I've carried an "agreed value" policy on my old Beetle w/ Hagerty for several years now, and you are correct - they require that you have another primary "daily driver" car before they will insure your classic model.
That said though, Hagerty otherwise seems to encourage reasonably frequent driving and usage of older cars they cover. This is in stark contrast to a lot of the other classic car insurance outfits I researched a few years back, which were all extremely restrictive on where and how often they would allow you to drive any cars they covered. |

I am glad someone pointed out the difference between "stated" value and "agreed" value.
I use Grundy for my Speedster replica. For me at least, they were cheaper than Hagerty and seemed to be less restrictive about use. |
