View original topic: Audi 4.2 V8 in back of 2001 Beetle. Anyone in San Diego?

Two years ago I bought a 1999 Porsche 996 Tiptronic transmission, a 2003 4.2 (timing belt engine) and a 2001 New Beetle. I have the engine bolted to the transmission and mounted to the split Audi A8 rear cradle and the whole thing bolted in the car. The car is in Oregon but I now spend most of my year in Tijuana. I have found at least one place to work on it down here and am investigating a second option today. Wondering if there is anyone else in the San Diego area with questionable enough judgement to be interested in helping. I would compensate you, maybe give you the car when it's done. Send me a pm if it interests you.

You have the V8 engine and transmission in the BACK of the New Beetle- where the original trunk was- and the trunklid closes? How much cutting did you have to do to the body so that it all fits? Did you have to fabricate special brackets to weld to the body so that your Audi rear cradle can be attached?
