I'm looking to get a motor swap in a syncro. I can't find anyone in Florida willing to do it. Anybody know of anyone? Appreciate it

Florida is a big state. I would reach out to samba member MarkWard. He is a very knowledgeable contributor here and may have some ideas for you, depending on where you are in the state.

I will give you my mechanic who did my motor swap a little over a year ago. He is very detailed oriented and has done numerous swaps in various German vehicles. He has serviced my Westy for several years. I put in a FAS NA gas engine. My Westy really moves now and has not given me any problems. I can highly recommend that swap. FAS shipped my engine directly to him. He can also put in GoWesty engines of course. He is not a fan of installing Subaru engines. He likes to keep it all German. He can also put in a 1.8T engine. He suggested that one to me but I wanted the FAS conversion. He does nice work and even fabricates parts if need be. His company is RS Auto Specialities in Miami, FL. Website is: http://www.rsautospecialties.com/ Phone (786) 473-2166. His name is Robert Sciandra and was recommended to me by the local VW dealer. He used to work for VW and worked on Vanagons when at VW. I am not sure where you are located in Florida. Brad

I’m surprised no one did the motor vs engine, electric vs ICE jab on the new guy. BTW on ICE, is there such a thing as an external combustion engine?

Of course. Industrialization around the planet was often powered by external combustion engines.

Are you driving the van to visit shops or are you emailing and calling around? Take some pictures of the van including the under side and the engine compartment and post them up here. Also as mentioned, your going to need to supply more information about what you need done. Also your time frame and budget.

I see no replies from the original poster, but would add this. I like to build a trust with a new customer over time. The trust has to work both ways. An engine swap is not the best start to building a trust with a new customer.
