View original topic: Getting the seat back into the rails?

I am trying to delete the driver swivel, and for the life of me cannot get the seat into the stock rails! Is there a trick?

Thanks!

there could be SO many scenarios that could be causing that with the situation you describe. Can you add pics and/or more description?

i think there's a little nub you need to lift up to let one of the seat rails get into the track on the body. then it'll slide all the way back. there's a little clip that's silver or it may just take a firm flip with the finger to lift it up. once it gets past the first few inches it'll slide all the way back.

Hopefully you realize that unbolting the swivel mechanism isn't enough with stock swivels.
You also need to cut out the welded into place swivel base plate.
This base plate is welded to the stock rails and prevents the seat from using the stock rails.

Along that line, here's a GW video that could be helpful:

Also, when I removed my swivel base, I had to wax the stock rails pretty heavily before I could even start to slide the seat back in due to excessive grabbing.

Hope this helps!

Consider being more detailed with your questions/conditon.situation and pictures really help.

Notice how many guesses were taken and all but this lucky one didn't address your situation?

Make it easy to help you 8)

I interpreted this is as you are "trying" to remove so have not done it yet and the swivel still in place thus likely are trying to put the seat back on the still-in-place swivel (so you could drive it or whatever) and cant get it on teh rails (on the swivel) that came stock with your westy.

I was going to suggest tilting the back f the seat back/away from steering wheel since if it is upright/tilted forward, the steering wheel can block a good alignment.

....Also, consider putting your year etc. in your signature line so we have a better guess....for example, the steering wheel interference I mentioned is more likely with an early van with larger wheel.

....Yes, operators waiting by, just let us know who yo want to reach :)
