67 ghia convertible. I read an older post about location of snaps for the top boot. Questions are the snaps riveted in or screwed in? Do the snaps go into the body of my beautiful paint job or into the wooden bow? If anyone has a more specific location of the snaps I would appreciate it
Thank you

Hey Demley, there’s a total of ten snaps. First, a set of six snaps that are screwed to the body, around the perimeter of the bottom roof line. There’s an another two that are screwed to the lip of the package shelf inside, facing front, and one more on each inside trim panel, near the curved face where it meets the corner pillar/door jamb. Finally, to hold down the inside corner of the top cover, there’s a pair of small twist-lock fasteners.
If you see the picture for the top cover (like https://chucksconvertibleparts.com/index.php/categ...ver-3.html from Chuck’s) you can see the placement for the outer six. The package tray should have a screw hole for the other two, and if you have the inside trim metal trim panels (vinyl cover) you should see the screw hole for the last two snaps.
One more note: these are all screwed in, using short #6 chrome head oval screws, and the ones one the outer body should have a rubber washer between the snap and the body. (I use neoprene faucet washers as a close match) |

If your '67 has the wooden tack strip, the six snaps that go into the sheetmetal on later cars will mount to the lower chrome trim piece and screw into the wooden strip. There are also small plastic saddles (item #10 below) that sit between the snaps and the 1/2-round trim strip (item #7). The only snaps that mount directly to the outer body are the two just behind the upper door opening where the top boot attaches.
Here's a drawing for those saddles ↓ Can be made from nylon rod stock.

Good point! '67 had the transition mid year from using a tack bow to the wire channel. The former has the snaps screwed into the tack bow and holding down the chromed strip. The latter part of the model year changed to the snaps screws into the sheetmetal adjacent to the lower edge of the fabric.

I use 3M stick on studs as I couldn’t bring myself to drill into the bodywork.
