I have an 87 vanagon with a 2" gowesty lift kit and 2" ballpoint spacer and a set of 17" xxr wheels i want to put on my van but they currently have 215\45R17 for tires on them... what is the max size tire i can put on the van without rubbing with this setup any help would be apricated.

honestly looking for help with this as i'm not good with figuring out tire sizes and everything i have found online are only up to 16" rims not 17s

Learn to use the FAQ's and search profiles. When you open Vanagon Forums at the top are the FAQ's, tires have been covered from every angle.

If there is something missing chime in but it's all been covered.

There are a number of variables that mean you can get in the ballpark but still not for certain until you try 'em out (unless you're Christopher at T3).

A key spec that you haven't mentioned is wheel offset. Without that no one can say if those wheels will work. Also, is tour van a Syncro?

I have 215/75 R15 BFG KO2 tires and they don't rub with GW 1 1/2" lift springs.

Use this tire comparison tool to find the dimensions of 17" tires and how they compare to known good fits of tires with smaller wheels. Again, wheel offset is a huge variable.

As far as the FAQ goes there is nothing for 17" wheels just 16" and 18"

so obvious thing to do was ask...

As far as the offset they are ET35 and i have contacted Chris at t3 technique already about bolts and mounting but not for tire sizes and the van is a 2wd

so then go into the tire thread and add it into the tire thread so others can easily find it and not have to searching for it. That's why they have a dedicated thread for it.

Not quite the same situation as you but may be helpful.

I have an 87 westy with 225 70R 16s, Schwenk westy springs, bilstein xhds, and every other piece of suspension and steering replaced this spring. Mine sits about 17.25" center to fender emptyish and rubs just slightly on full turn with articulation. With camping/festival gear and a passenger it was rubbing with any turn / speed bump, took a little trim off the fenders below the trim line and problem solved. I do plan on adding spacers this fall or may replace the springs and upper ball joints with lift ones.
