Does anyone know of a resource (website, book, whatever) for some kinda bolt/screw diagram for beetles? I purchased a stripped down, newly painted 68 beetle with all hardware removed. As I’m purchasing parts, it’s super time consuming to find what size bolts or screws are required to install a part.
Much appreciated.

I would start with a box of M6x12, M8x25 and assorted M10

You can also try referring to an old official VW parts catalog, like the one scanned in at this website:

Hi, All

I'm going to recommend Totally Stainless at https://www.totallystainless.com/. Lots of kits to replace hardware sets throughout the car as needed. I'm a fan of non rusting stainless hardware, although it requires the use of Anti-seize when doing assembly.

Your mileage may vary, but I've had good luck dealing with this company. I also bought an package assortment of metric bolts, washers, and nuts in an organizer. It's been a very handy solution to a bunch of headaches

Most stainless hardware is not as strong as grade 8.8 or 10.8

I found the specific VW Beetle page:
https://shop.totallystainless.com/productlistv.php?a=Volkswagen&b=Beetle

The different full kits come w/ different style heads of the bolts (hex, button, socket, cheese, phillips, etc.) depending on which kit you buy.

Also, here is an old thread on the same topic with suggestions, but I'm not certain all the sources are still around.

Absolutely correct. I wouldn’t use standard SS grade on anything critical or structural without understanding the bolt strength. OK for running boards, fenders and body connections. And there are many grades of SS. Not all SS is rustproof in all conditions e.g. in salt ridden areas,
