Iíve had this 72VW Beetle ďBajaĒ for 20+ years and itís been sitting around as a project that Iím finally getting time for. Hereís the issueÖ while trying to see if my reverse switch worked, I was shifting through the gears trying to get it into reverse. Once It shifted into reverse, at least I believe itís in reverse, the wheels locked up. I canít even move it an inch. The shifter still moves through the gears and they seem fine. I have also replaced all the brake lines and currently there is no fluid in them. The parking brake is disengaged. What are your suggestions?

Pull the wheels and drums to see if itís just rust. Once off put it in neutral and see if the axles will turn.

Just prior to me trying to shift it into Reverse I was pushing it in and out of my garage. I know itís not rusty brakes. Is almost feels like thereís a pin stopping it from moving or like itís stuck in gear

When the clutch pedal is depressed. Will the car roll?

One of my 67's from time to time, gets stuck in second gear.

Jeffrey,

I AM SORRY MAN!!!

I put it up on jack stands and pulled the wheels. With a little brute strength the passenger side broke free and was spinning easily. I tried the same on the drivers side with no luck so I decided to pull the drum off and while doing so it broke free. I cleaned the dirt/grim/rust out and now itís spinning freely.

Thanks Brother!
