Is there a current thread regarding hotel, special events or groups organizing for June’s HO event/s?

Thanks. I have seen that. I was just curious if there were any organized groups going over from the States or a thread on any activities or group buys for airfare/lodging.

I've not been since 2017 so I'm very tempted to do the drive from the UK again and camp.

Absolutely the best VW show on earth.

I’ve never been, always wanted to. Is it worth going as a spectator without being a registered participant?

I've not had a vintage Volkswagen for years, I simply go to spend a few days in Germany and look at some of the rarest Volkswagens in the world.

The show is held in the pretty town of Hessisch Oldendorf and as others have said you have Wolfsburg close by and interesting local towns like Hameln too.

You also have the river crossing too with the Schwimwagens which I think may be Saturday? Don't quote me on that one.

Thanks for the replies. My wife and I went to Bad Camberg in '03 and did the tour of Bavaria...we even took a day and drove up to see BBT and his museum, really cool. On the drive down to see Bavaria, we drove right past the Nürburgring exit and stupidly did not go and see/drive it. :-\.

Great show, but not having anything old or rare at the time and being a new parents and home owners and pinching pennies, I did not stock up on cool stuff at the swap. It seemed expensive then...I can only imagine prices now. Hahaha.

Any good places to stay or recommendations?

2003 BC trip (not sure what our fascination with McDonald's was..so many pics. lol)

I know it's quite late in the day for accommodation, I would be flying into Hannover, is it quite easy to travel to Hessisch in a day from there (train?)

finster Mon Jan 05, 2026 7:18 am

looks like there are frequent trains and it takes about 1.5 hours from the airport.

Was thinking of basing myself for a long weekend in Hannover, visiting Hessisch by train (from Hannover centre) on the Saturday and then doing some other things either side

sounds like a good plan.
