Anyone here know how to remove an engine from a diesel Jetta. I have an possible oportunity to get a engine but would need to remove it myself. I have no Jetta manuals so I am looking for advise on what bolts to remove so I can pull the engine on the spot. Any advise would be great.

TIA,

Thomas

I don't know much about the water cooled cars, but I hear it's quite simple, except you have to remove the engine and transaxle as a unit. Unbolt the motor mounts from the frame, disconnect the shift linkage, remove the axles from the trans, and disconnect all the cables, wires, and hoses that run from the engine to everything you aren't removing. Take your time and make sure to remember how it all goes together (take pictures, draw diagrams and label wires and hoses), and a good bentley or Hayes manual would be a wise investment.
