No whine thread on toys/memorabilia, so here goes.

This Wiking van would be worth the money if it were all intact. That's a $150 chip of plastic missing from the nose! (It could be repaired, but would still not be original.)

Also, the box is for a different model, because the end flap indicates Sealing Wax red rather than Dove blue!

None of this is to say I wouldn't want to bring it home! :D

$1700 for horns?

https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=2653655

This seems crazy to me. I recall these being around $250 or so but maybe that was years ago.

That would be something you would put under glass rather than actually use.

Less of a whine and more of a simple reality. Germans spend crazy money on Wiking 1/40th.

What this one has going for it (aside from being an early convertible) is that it appears to be a Standard model. (Plain gray seats, black steering wheel, lack of chrome and so forth). I've never seen one before. Unusual variations can blow the price sky high.

Nothing I hear about Wikings really surprises me these days. Those who were all aboard the Wiking train early are the lucky ones. For the rest of us, that train ticket will be expensive!

OK, Photo says it all . . . . $15,600 :!: :!:

Send me a "pm" if you would like to read an "out of this world" article I wrote about
this R-10 Space Patrol VW Cabrio for the HotVWs Magazine - Nov 2018 issue.

I don't get it. Are these that rare? Maybe I'm out of the loop.

The Type 3 Wikings always seem to go for big money. I've snagged a few and passed on most.

Yes, and even the cheap ones that don't click well are pricey. And before you think you found a deal from overseas, check shipping... $50 - $75!!

I don't know why I see people asking crazy money for these sorts of cans all the time...

Volkswagen brake fluid can Price: $399 shipped
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=2696466

I have a bunch of these, they were like $5-$10 a few years ago.
They are probably worth more but no way it's that much.

I mostly see polish cans for crazy prices... Those I have seen sell for $75-$100 (or more) on eBay.
