Hello all,
I just wanted to share my experience with Revell's chrome spray paint. I recently bought a 67 rear view mirror. The arm had quite a bit of pitting in the chrome. I took the mirror apart to fix it up. Looking over the chrome part, I couldn't find any local plating shop that would do such a small piece without charging a fortune.
So I did a bit of interneting. Looked up diy plating on Caswell's site and then looked up a number of reviews on chrome spray paint. Now I know spray paint isn't nearly as durable as chrome, but for an interior piece like this that never hardly gets touched, I thought I'd try paint.
The reviews for Revell's chrome spray paint, mostly by model makers was really positive. I'd hope so seeing that a small can was $35. But I thought I'd give it a go.
I wet sanded the arm with 1000 grit, smoothing it out and giving the paint something to grip. I've put two coats of paint on and so far I'm very pleased. I'll do a third coat tomorrrow, then let it cure for a few days and put the whole assembly back together.
Anyways, thought I'd share. I'll post pics of the finished product in a week or so.

That's pretty nice. I've tried a couple of 'chrome' spray paints which were both just silver paint, and not satisfactory. |

If you can get paint to stick to chrome, that is impressive. |

It's a small spray can, hard to get in the States. Comes from Revell of Germany. https://www.revell.de/en/products/modelmaking/colors-accessories/spray-color/chrome-spray-150ml.html |

Could be a nice option for taillight buckets. |

Yeah, I was wondering if it would hold up to the wear of using it on coat hooks or pop-out latches. I'll have to do some testing. |

Yeah it looks like you plated it. The old chrome paint would turn black if you touched it later after it dried good. |

I made the mistake of touching it lightly after about 24 hours and put my big incriminating fingerprint in it. I'll wait a day or two, scuff sand my print and give it another spray.
Patience isn't my strong suit. |

I wonder how this would work on headlight buckets, does it have a temperature rating? |
