Having recently read the Subaru is discontinuing their coolant conditioner I thought it best to order a container to throw into the travel kit.
My complete knowledge of this product is what I've seen in this forum.
I've seen photos of the jug and I assumed it was oii bottle size +/- ......
I was shocked that it is but a tiny bottle that fits in the palm of my hand! Maybe the size of a pack of cigarettes.
Anyway, be the rumors true or false, I've hoarded my supply ...... just in case......

Smart move, Young Man.
As rumored, but whether true I’m not sure. I’ve got four. |

Is there an expiry date? |

I didn't look.
Though overall I'm not one who is generally worried about such dates. Unless you're selling dairy products, they are generally made up and meaningless.
I know that their are exceptions for some paints, sealants and such....... |

I just looked there are some numbers printed in black ink on a dark blue bottle but it isn't a date.
The bottle has HOLTS molded on it with a Subaru Label glued on.
Found this web site ...... looks like the same bottle only in red.

curious as to how many you bought...... !
i think shelf life is fine as long as it doesn't freeze. even then, it may not matter but freezing always seems to mess up water based products. i kept a jug in my van and it certainly froze in our winters. i'd like to buy a bottle of Holt and one of Subaru and pour them into dishes to compare. they are LIKELY the same. Maybe Subaru is discontinuing because they've finally fixed the head gasket issue on new models and all the old models have already failed. |

Subaru having finally improved their seals is exactly my thought. Certainly a service writer at a dealer would know.
Possible there were liability concerns with the product, maybe, or it works so incredibly well it exceeded any reasonable expectation of head gasket life.
I think it’s a tremendous product, it works. |

Sales have plummeted since people have found out the joy of replacing your Subaru engine with a WBX. |

I think it’s a tremendous product, it works. I'll call over to a dealer I know, and talk to the Parts Dept. They ought to be able to shed some light on the state of the Coolant Conditioner going away or not. |

FWIW, Subaru goo is still available on Amazon.
Just last year I came across a very similar product in my FLAPS, called “K-Seal”:
A bit more expensive than Subaru/Holts, but it’s what was available locally.
I dropped one in my system & ran it all year…no troubles…

I thought you’d said “It ran all year,” which of course is impossible. |

PS: If you believe Amazon, Subaru CC page says “no[t] discontinued by manufacturer”

Really, the page had a typo?
No [sic]?
Certain they didn’t mean “NOW discontinued by manufacturer?”
That’s IT… I’m buying a distribution trailer… |

the subaru conditioner is holts radweld. a product available in the UK.
newer subaru engines are using MLS gaskets that are supposed to outlast the old style single layer gaskets. i just installed a set on a JDM 2.5i that will be going into my subaru. they are substantially beefier than the original and are what supposedly negates the need for the conditioner.
it will be interesting to see how they hold up. caveat with the original gaskets being general maintenance of the engine by owners- i got 212k out of my original engine before it overheated to no return on the high wyoming desert |
