Does anyone know where I can purchase a Bra for my 1970 Ghia Convertible?

A bra for your Ghia would not be specific to a convertible, so simply look for a bra specific to a 1970 Ghia (Coupe or Convertible). The bra should fit either the same. The bra will need to have the proper cut-outs for the 1970-'71 front turnsignal lenses. Perhaps check with KGP&R out in Oxnard (AKA "Airhead Parts)? I bought mine decades ago for my '70 Coupe and unfortunately I can't remember who I purchased it from way back then... Happy hunting!

Yes, you are correct.. It does not need to be convertible specific. As long as it has the rectangular cut outs for the ugly turn signals, rather than round. It should fit. I have searched just about every VW site around.. no luck.
Manufacturers probably dont want to make them any more, since there are not many around now days

FYI, while you are searching, there is a difference between those beautiful-looking 1970-'71 and the larger 1972-74 rectangular shaped front turn signal lenses. Also since you are new here, you might want to place a WTB = "want to buy" ad in the "Ghia" section of the classified ad section here on theSamba.com (free). Describe what you are looking for, etc and you might just shake a bra loose from someone here who has one in storage and/or doesn't have their Ghia anymore? It wouldn't hurt to try. Good luck neighbor (I'm in Missouri).

I just bought the car last week. I always wanted a ghia convertible since I was 14 years old. I could not find one back then. So I settled on a bug with and automatic stick shift. Wish I still had that for a keepsake and memories now.

I agree.. the newer the cars were, the bigger the turn signals and tail lights got
on those.. I guess they needed to be seen better. Ha

I have a 71 with the "ugly" front turn signals. I couldn't find a bra for mine either. As "hokie" as this sounds, I ended up with round holes. So, I pulled the turn signals into the insides of the front fenders. Then, I installed the bra, nice and tight. From the inside of the front fenders, I marked through the holes onto the bra where to cut. The rest is history. Best of luck!

ahh. good idea. Did the bra frey when you cut the rectangular holes though?
Did it have the correct holes for the vents in the front? I have seen some that have just round holes for the vents which look kind of ugly too

Presumably this is vinyl or plastic of some kind. You can avoid fraying the edges on the material if you use a hot knife to cut the holes you need. Mark the cut with a marker. ( you can get white or silver makers if the material is dark)Clamp the area of interest on an old flat board and make the cut pressing through the material against the board.

Harbour freight has hot knives. Some soldering irons have knife tips for small jobs like this.

If there is a marine upholsterer nearby, you could go to them to make you a custom bra. They make that kind of thing for boats and yachts all the time.
