I may be late for the party, but for us air-cooled purists, the Michelin XZX is back! Instead of going to Coker Tire ($158+tax for each blackwall 165/80R15 tire) and paying additonal shipping, you can go to TireRack.com ($160.64 including Nevada tax for each blackwall 165/80R15 tire), order them, and pick them up at a TireRack distribution center (the one local to me is on Waltham Way near TRIC in the Reno area). Their national number is 866.363.5892 and ask for Bruno, who was very helpful. I got one as a spare replacement for one of the crappy Nankang tires that rotted out on my 1959 ragtop bug.
In the Reno area, Mill Street Tire (775.355.0717) will mount, wide-5 adapter spin-balance on your rim, and dispose of the old tire for ~$42.
In the Riverside area, Reliable Tire (951.684.1132) had a wide-5 adapter back in 2014 when I lived in SoCal.
You can also get Vredesteins at Tires Unlimited in Dayton OH, with a similar tread (I think shipping was free back then), as an option (I have these on my 1958 Karmann Ghia).
Best,
