Recently picked up their type 3 that has been parked for 10 years. Cleaned out all the mouse poop and had it rollbacked to family property until I can get it moving and stopping on its own. It was purchased off of EBay by the previous owner and cam to Tennessee from California. It was originally sold at Treasure Valley Auto in Boise Idaho. First things to do are free up the brakes and replaced what’s needed and go through fuel injection and clean out and also replace as needed.

| That looks pretty clean and complete. Looks like someone put "cal look rubber seals in it because the original seals dried out. That probably helped save it (kept the water out). Looks like it needs a rear trunk seal, but those are easy to replace. Nice score, and you should have it up and running soon. If you have trouble, contact Tram as he knows that system like the back of his hand. |

| I've been reading Tram's content and will be using it tomorrow to begin the resurrection. Thanks Tram and Robnotch! the quarter windows have inserts for trim but yes the front and rear are Cal look style. There is some bubbling above the vents on the fender and below the raingutter vents. I'll be keeping an eye on them. |

Yes, go thru Tram's D-jet FI guide for cars that have been parked for a while. Some of the other things listed also apply, like going thru the brake system (front and rear), along with a basic safety check, and common sense stuff before you start driving it. Keep in mind that PO"S (Previous Owners) have a tendency to mess with the wiring for some reason. We've yet to figure out that one, but it's pretty common.
If there's rust in the slots of the "C" post, most of that will be from the inside (VW's famous foam causing rust to form years later). Quite a few of us have dealt with it (cut and weld is most common), and it's common on bugs too from that era (above the half moon piece). |

Replave hoses in the engine bay and to the MPS and automatic. It will run so much better. Replace all gas lines and suspect the soft brake lines. Tires probably shouldn't see a highway, either. Safety first!
That said, it looks like a good project that doesn't have many PO hacks to undo, a great advantage! |

| It has a new owner now. This was all the work done while I owned it. I thought I would share these so the new owner has access to them and can add on over time. |

I'm hoping the new owner pops in so we congratulate them. And maybe sniff around for a closer look. :D

I’ve made him away of this thread so I’m hoping he’ll check in and update. I sold it because it needed new heads out blowing out a spark plug and took the threads with it. It’s a beautiful car in person and a black to drive.! |
