once i stopped taking dope, the Dead lost its charm.
i don't think there's enough drugs in the universe to make me listen to taylor swift. |

Is there enough Bud Light, though?

i've gone over my notes and, well, there was nothing that indicated "getting it " was required. although Wavy Gravy did reach out a couple of times, but i decided against any further interaction.
with a few tweaks in the cocktail over the years, the catatonia has remained in check. so i can't call it a total waste.
and i do believe to this day that Hayduke was right. |

I'd like to see her try Wharf Rat and deliver anything even close to the meaning or depth of what Jerry Garcia could transmit. Pop music has its place and I'm fine with that. Its a type engineered music with a low bar for entry, much like comic books. Don't break the seal if you want to sell it later! |

Yeah, but...
I like Taylor Swift.
I hate The Dead.
It's visceral. It dates back to the actual hippy era when some of us actually believed in sharing. I believed in sharing. I waved the freak flag. So every freak who showed up with a VW in need and no money became a set of tail lights drivin' away in the distance. Show up with an ailing VW, leave with a resurrected VW. But...
I don't need your bagga dope. I already have a T-shirt. A few Yankee Greendollars, a "small donation to 'The Cause'" would have been nice.
Buncha hypocrites.
So far they've maintained a perfect score. None of the Deadheads I kept in VWs have ever reciprocated in any way. Most of 'em, any time -I- needed a hand with anything, they had a show they needed to go to a thousand miles away. None of them stuck around to see their motors come apart and go back together. It wouldn't have bothered me, then. It bothers me, now.
I may have de- mystified part of Grumpy VW Curmudgeon Syndrome. How may VW old timers have been hosed by those hosers?
I was wondering who buys $80,000 Busses. Surely the buyers are Deadheads who never spent a dime on their shit back in the day.
All those dimes add up.
Following a prophet albeit a false prophet is religion.
Following a deceased prophet is surely religion.
Religion is like a penis. I'm sure you're proud of yours but keep it on the DL. Don't wave it around in public and don't point it at my kids.

Damn and you scolded me for taking interest in your welding skills. So you’re not sharing.

My pet peeve and biggest deal breaker:
"Send pictures."
Come on over. You can take all the pictures you want.
Been at this long enough we didn't have the means to expediently send pics. Horse trading is getting so weird lately I can't even pry an address or a phone number out of some sellers.
Hell, I started out rotary dial on a party line. There were years at the farm we didn't even have a phone.

My preacher explained it to me like this:
"Givers have limits on what they can give. True givers will give until they have nothing left to give. It's finite.
Takers on the other hand endure no such limits."

i simply think the vocals sucked.
not the lyrics, but my goodness. how much caterwauling can five people produce in one lifetime.
sure it was farking groovy then. tripping while sitting in the rain at watkins glenn listening to Rip Van Winkle bowling across the Catskills, holding the match 'til my fingers burned in Providence. wonderful experiences all.
but in 50 years i like to think i've changed. a bit.
last spring, my landlords, both alum, went to Cornell's big GD extravaganza. evidently it was an anniversary of what is purported to be the D's greatest concert.
YES - I KNOW - the one YOU went to was better!!!
but anyway, it was only 2 or 3 members of the original band (not including the dead dead) and a dope filled howl o'rama with $500 seats and $100 T-shirts.
so i guess we've all changed in one way or another.
sorry if any delicate flowers have been wilted by my opinion. |
