I would suggest hanging your dash by the clock hole, vertically. That way you don't deform the speedo pod. I have a pipe and fitting from Home Depot with pool noodle around it and have a couple dashes hanging on it. It's the only way I've found to store them that avoids damaging or deforming them.

I actually have the speedometer in it tried to prop it up flat with the glove box. I didn't want it flexed or warped, that spray on dye did better on old bits, the area around the speedometer needs touch up after I put it in, it already sat 9 months was quite snug. That is a soild tip thanks been keeping new bits inside the house for climate control gets pretty cold or hot in the shop

Wait until you get to the louvers on the rear fenders, or the front fresh air vents. Those are a real PIA to do. Ask my wife, she hated doing them.

So much for "cheap labor". My wife does it so we can spend some time together. For the dash vents (cowl section) wrap some sand paper around a paint stick. That works for me. Then you can roll the used sand paper for the curved corners (kind of the easy part of doing them). The rear fender vents are just a PIA to do, so I use my 90*angle grinder with some of those 3M roloc discs on them to strip the paint off (not true sanding pads, but rather stripping discs). They also work on the cowl vent, but then you have to blend the bare metal out, which can almost result in stripping the entire section.

I'm plugging away at it try to get at least a couple hours a day. I got a big yard and all the spring setup has been the priority. That is almost done after the first weekend in May ill be free to hit it hard. Never sanded a car before but by the end part of a front I learned what it will be. I have some round foam tube, it's like the core they cut out of bike pads, in various sizes was thinking it may work on the vents. Paint stick sounds easier. So far it was 1x paint so I'm not sanding 10x layers. I just wanna do a wheelie  still sanding

I sprayed the front fender with rust encapsulater plus from east wood then filled the holes with metal epoxy and sanded that. I will spray the whole fenders with that. Not much filler required. The inside has a globby coating that will need chipped away in some places most looks solid. The fenders are in good shape for what it is overall. Got one ready about to coat on the outside. Figured out what blocks to use in the corners ect. So should be ready to flow on progrees again. I am not sure wtf I'm doing but this seems like a logical way to go and this be what it will be  eventually primer and paint.

More than likely the inside portion of the front fenders is coated in "rock guard" to keep stone chips from breaking thru the paint causing rust. A heat gun and a scraper will remove that stuff easier than trying to sand it.
