I too would like to know the easiest way to access the back of the cigarette lighter location.
The OE cigarette lighter snaps in the from the front, but the plug I want to install uses a locking ring threaded on from the backside, so I need to reach there. |

I haven’t answered my own question, but have installed the USB plug.
I’m using the SeaDog 426510-1 dual USB C & A plug (no LED light), which uses threads that coincidentally act as barbs with the VW plastic cigarette lighter housing; it was simply a push-to-fit installation.
