View original topic: turn signal wiring, 3 wire switch with single bulb tail light

My car is a 1961 Beetle.
Is it possible to make a 3 wire turn signal switch work with a single bulb tail light set up? (snowflakes)
If so what did you do?
I know, buy a 6 wire switch but the MacGiver in me thinks otherwise.

If VW could have made do with a 3-wire switch, they would have, cheapskates that they were!

Until they separated the bulbs/filaments for brake and turn lights ('62), this more complex switch was needed, just like the old Buses.

Yes, it is possible to use a 3 wire turn signal switch with snowflakes, but you'll need to install relays to make it happen.

The PXL relay shown in that diagram is not for a VW, by the way. VWs use a grounded flasher relay.

Absolutely genius ^ ^ ^ ^ ^

Makes me wish I wanted to run snowflakes on my mid-60s cars.
