Hello again with the ongoing saga of Dan's build, cut, reweld and build some more... :)

As I just said, I have made brackets for this and that and eventually have to tweak them a bit as I didn't plan enough ahead.

In the current case, I have welded my 12.5-gallon tank tubing mounts and all fit nice and neat and it's centered in the frame. THEN comes a new set of intake manifolds as the original "sweeper" style, short and leaned outward, were hitting my exhaust tube upper tubes and the 44's were way too close to the "U" rear frame of the sand rail. So, Greg Tims came through again for me and got me a set of standard, non-offset, intake manifolds and port matched them to his Stage 2 heads that I purchased from him.

All great and dandy now, plenty of carb and intake clearance around the exhaust and "U" tube framework.

BUT... NOW, my straight up and closer inward intake/carbs are setup with the CB Performance non-offset hex linkage and my driver's 6" tall air cleaner is hitting the left side of the gas tank end, bummer dude... :( Mounting brackets welded into the frame with lots of effort. :) Would have to cut, modify and reweld to fix that.

When I put my 4" filters on, I have almost 1/2" of clearance and that works for me. But, is 4" filters enough for a 2276 running 44's???

I can "modify" things, but lots of cutting and rewelding; or just run the 4" air cleaner filters and move on???

Greg and I briefly discussed the offset/staggered intakes, but he said that since I have the CB Performance non-offset linkage, that could be an issue. NOW after looking things over, I could have just purchased a left side CB air cleaner base for the offset intakes and not had to do ANY modifications other than that. Live and learn!

So, 4" and just run or 6" and lots of cutting and modifications???

Thanks in advance!

I have seen fuel stand off working the throttle by hand on mine. Glad my flaps sold me 6"filters.

Okay, I bit the bullet and welded on the side of my tank mount tubing a piece of 1"x1"x1/4" angle and drilled and taped the 5/16 holes. I now have enough room for the 6" tall filters and the tank being offset an inch, is not a big deal.

But I am kind of anal and have to have things symmetrical or it will bug me... :)

I'd rather use the 6" anyway as I have external socks already in the 6" variety.

Thanks for looking!

I know it's not conventional but I put my tank up front to add weight to the front wheels. It's not a shiny spun aluminum one though...

I put the battery up there too for the same reason.

I thought about the tank forward, but on mine, not a lot of room up front. I am placing my battery up front tough, just in front of the passenger's feet.

Now that I've got the tank shuffled over an inch or so to the right, it doesn't look too bad there... AND the 6" air filters now clear on both carbs and the tank ends.

Thanks for the comments!
